In a Wild League game at Wells, which was shortened to fifteen ends due to the weather conditions, Prattens’ Ladies won on two rinks, lost on one but lost overall, so gained four League points.
Weather conditions on Thursday worsened, which meant that the Ladies’ Wild League game against Frome Selwood had to be cancelled and will be re-arranged. Prattens’ Men played Frome Selwood in the Mid-Somerset League. Prattens won on two rinks, lost on two but lost overall and so gained four League points. A Mixed Mid-Somerset League game also saw Prattens play against Frome Selwood. Prattens won on all four rinks, gaining all twelve League points.
In the Club Triples competition, the games were very close, resulting in the decision regarding finalists being decided on shot difference! The finalists are Roy Harvey, Stephen Garside and Barrymore Dando, who will play Liz Durnford, Anne Cahill and Ray Chivers. All Club competition finals will take place in early September.
Following the Triples competition, a barbeque was held for members, family and friends. Despite the weather, this was very well-attended and everyone had an enjoyable evening, which helped to raise funds for the club. A big thank you to Richard and Lin Brimble for organising the event, and to all at Prattens who helped set up on the day.
In the coming week, Prattens’ Ladies have a friendly at home to Bloomfield (Bath). Prattens’ Men are away to Norwest in the Mid-Somerset League and away to Keynsham A in the Somerset County League. There is a Mixed Mid-Somerset League game at home to local rivals, Fosseway, and there are two mixed friendly games away to our other local rivals, Paulton, and home to Mark Moor.
Our regular Monday evening club nights are continuing and anyone is welcome to come along from 6 p.m; all you need to do is just wear flat shoes, as bowls can be borrowed and coaching is available free of charge.
