The week started well with the ladies recording wins against Street, 10–2, then a home win against Norwest, 11–1. They had a poor day on Sunday at home against Congresbury in the National Top Club Competition, winning just one discipline, the triples, losing 3–1 on the match.

It was all going well for the men beating Fry’s on Wednesday and Knowle on Saturday, then there was the National two rink game at Norwest. The B team made the short distance to be totally out played by the home team losing on both rinks.

In the County Competition there were wins in the singles for John Mathews and Terry Priddle, in the pairs, Mike Pratt and Steve Amor just managed to beat another Purnell Pair, Jim Towells and Bryan Wyatt, on the last end. John Mathews and Denis Skehan also went through.

Purnells hosted the County Two Wood competition on Thursday evening, the spectators were treated to some great play by the finalists.
