THE weather stayed dry for Camvale Tennis Club’s annual Final’s Day. This was an event showcasing some excellent tennis and an opportunity for members and their families to come along and support the players competing and enjoy a slice of cake! Kindly donated by members of our club.
The day started with the Ladies Doubles Competition. Congratulations to winners Helen and Mandy. The ladies section at Camvale is welcoming and not all about tennis ability meaning any lady interested in taking part in some fun exercise while enjoying a bit of a social interaction can all join in! The Ladies section is something we are actively looking to expand and improve so please get in touch to find out more about what opportunities we have on offer!
Following this was the mixed doubles competition. We were entertained with both men and Ladies of all ages and abilities joining on court to compete against each other. Congratulations once again to Mandy and Malcolm. Well done both!
The men’s doubles took place mid afternoon in what was a tightly contested match. The score being 7-6 7-6. With both sets being won on tie-breaks! There really wasn’t much to separate the pairings in this match. Congratulations to Howard and Charlie who came out on top, commiseration’s to Reuben and John who finished runners-up.
Finally the day concluded with the Men’s Singles Final. Throughout the summer 16 men entered into this knockout competition and played matches against each other.
Eventually we were left with just 2, Howard and Reuben. Once again this was a great match, and credit must go to both for competing in both the Doubles and Singles finals. Congratulations to 17 year old Reuben who won in straight sets. He has worked very hard over the past year on his game and the results are clear to see. Not to mention he has played a big part for our Summer League teams. Well done!
If you are looking to get involved in tennis, we hold Club Nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and a Ladies night on Thursday. All starting at 7pm.
Come along and see what Camvale has to offer. There is always a committee member present on a Club Night who can meet and introduce you to our friendly members.
Our next event will be in October. This will be a Charity Social Tennis afternoon, for mental health charity, Mind. Please see our website or Facebook page for more details.
