League cricket returns to Midsomer Norton Cricket Club’s Withies Lane ground this weekend when the First XI take on Knowle in the first competitive fixture in this year’s WEPL Bristol and North Somerset Division.

It will be Skipper, Nick Pang’s first game in charge and the game starts at 1 p.m. On the same day, the Second XI visit Bedminster and the Third XI travel to Old Bristolians Westbury.

The Sunday XI have an away fixture against Bristol Afghans and will be hoping to build on the start made to the league campaign last weekend, when the team enjoyed a convincing 133 run win over Easton Cowboys.

With two centurions (Ben Strang 130 not out and Nick Cox 110) and 100+ run stands for the first and second wickets, Norton scored 312–5 in just 33 overs and then restricted their opponents to 179–7 from forty overs.
