MARY Elworthy-Coggan’s 30th and final barbecue which has taken place at Fitzhead in West Somerset was a real cricketing occasion to remember.

Attended by well over 120 guests the event raised a new record amount of £6000,which will be divided equally between Motor Neurone Disease, Alzheimers Society and Somerset County Cricket Club.

One of the special guests present was Somerset’s Chief Executive Jamie Cox who remembered attending the event when he first came to the club as a player back in 1999.

As well as the barbecue which was organised and run by the Farmers Arms, Combe Florey, there was a produce stall, a tombola, grand raffle and an auction that in total raised over £6k.

Afterwards a delighted Mary said: “The evening was a huge success and everyone who came along enjoyed themselves.

There was a great atmosphere and I couldn’t have asked for more for my last BBQ.”

Mary would like to thank everyone who helped to make her final barbecue such a memorable occasion, especially the following: Jos Buttler, Dave Harding,  David Pipe, Anita George of the Logan Rock Inn, Taunton Racecourse, Cooper Associates, Paddy Groves from Woods Cafe Dulverton, Stuart Tudball, Granny Smiths, and all of the Somerset players who attended the event.
