METHODISTS gained a convincing nine-wicket away win over Pucklechurch’s second team on a Sunny Saturday.
Pucklechurch’s Steve Frankcon and Simon Hedges (24) scored 55 runs for the first wicket. James Green (2-28) eventually separated the pair after 14 overs, but Frankcon (49) helped take the score to 91, before spinner Craig Eyles finally ended his stay in the middle.
Dan Perkins (32) kept the scoreboard ticking until the accuracy and experience of Iain Locke (3-30) did for him - again teaming up with Mark Robinson (2-26), Lockey restricted the hosts towards the end of their innings, although
Pucklechurch still managed to post a competitive-looking 198-9 at tea.
At the resumption Methodists quickly lost a wicket to left-armer Neil Carthy, but the established batting partnership of Robinson and his skipper Alex Nash were soon exploiting the fast outfield, and regularly finding the boundary.
After nine overs, 5-1 had become 51-1. he score doubled again to 103-1 in the next five overs!
Robinson (59*) was ultimately rewarded for his patience with a well-deserved half-century - Nash (113*) continuing to pummel the opposition as the target was chased down.
