A SUNNY afternoon at Norton Hill found the Methodists playing host to mid-table Frys.
The visitors initially scored slowly, having lost a couple of wickets, but opener Stuart Nethercott (27) found the rope a few times to boost their total to 39 in the 13th over. He eventually became the third victim of Daniel Shearn (3-20), who found a little early swing, but Frys continued to tick over - Neil Sinclair (20) and Charlie Morgan (25) adding a handy 34.
A sudden clatter of wickets saw the batting side lose their last five batters for just one run, as Simon Howlett (3-21) and Craig Eyles (3-10) quickly wrapped up the innings for a modest 101.
Spinner Trevor Pratt snared Methodists' skipper Alex Nash early on, but James Green and Craig Eyles crafted an important stand of 49 for the second wicket. Pratt (2-31) struck again to remove Green (13), but Ish Fairoz joined Eyles (31) to add a careful twenty runs in nine overs, until the latter finally got a low, skidding delivery. Ish (24) and Si Howlett nudged the score to 99, but both were then dismissed in quick succession as Frys' experienced bowlers again broke through. A David Baker boundary eventually clinched a five-wicket victory after 33 overs.
