SOMERSET seamer Jake Ball is set to join Durham on a short-term loan.
The 34-year-old, who joined the Cidermen from Nottinghamshire initially on a two-year contract before the start of last season, played in six championship matches in 2024 in which he claimed 15 wickets at an average of 33.20.
However this campaign he has been unable to get into the championship team. Ball will be available for selection for the Seat Unique Riverside-based County for the next two rounds of the Rothesay County Championship before returning to the Cooper Associates County Ground.
Somerset Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry believes that the deal will benefit Jake, Durham and Somerset. “It’s a long and demanding season and it’s absolutely crucial that our players are match-ready when called upon,” he said.
“While there are many benefits to playing for the Second XI, there is no substitute for playing competitive first team cricket.“
