WALKING sports are becoming increasingly popular among those who are unable to play their favourite game at full pace .
Walking Cricket is the sport you love, just played at a slower pace – so it’s perfect for people who are older, or less physically able, but who still want to enjoy the thrill of the game.
The game can be played as teams or in pairs and everything is walking, including the ‘runs’ and fielding, and a match lasts about an hour using a soft ball.
Whether you’re batting, bowling, or fielding, it’s a great form of cardio exercise. Plus it improves both agility and hand-eye coordination.
The other thing about Walking Cricket is that it is a very social sport, filled with team spirit and fun.
With this in mind the Somerset Cricket Foundation (SCF), who oversee all aspects of the recreational game in the county, have set up the Wells Walking Cricket Hub which takes place every Thursday at Wells Leisure Centre, Charter Way in Wells BA5 2BF between 12.30 and 2.30 pm
