The league is up and running again with some tremendous games of football being played.
Two new teams to the league were the featured match last Saturday, Peasedown Albion A versus Chilcompton A, which ended in a 0–0 draw. What was pleasing about the match was the number of under-17s on view on both sides, played in a competitive but fair way and well refereed by John Davis. Peasedown, as the older team, created a number of chances, but Mathew Weaver, playing at centre half, with the young Chilcompton team had an excellent game to keep a clean sheet. Lucas Hawkins for the visitors had a very good performance in mid-field. For the home team, the outstanding players were sixteen-year-old Sam Cary and Captain, Craig Cebers, not forgetting the left back, Mathew Seviour.
In the Premier League, newly promoted Bath Villa got off to a winning start, 2–0 at home to Westfield Reserves, with goals from Lewis Isaac and Danrico Taylor. Coleford put seven past Westhill Sports, with goals from Jack Davis (4), Mac Fisher and Reynolds. The visitors’ consolation goal was from Max Rogers. Last season’s champions, Frome Collegians, scored seven against Purnell Sports, with goals from Sanquest, Skimpman, Josh Butler (2), Theo Sing (Pen) and Liam Martin and Radstock A lost at home to another promoted team in the league, Victoria, 4–2.
Division One saw some good results by the away teams, Wells A went to Chew Magna Reserves and won 4–3. Chew’s scorers were Will Heath, Conor Hunt and Tom Osbourne. Somer Valley had a great result away to Clutton Reserves, 3–2, with goals from Hayden Powell, Ben Teall and Lee Champion. High Littleton played out a 1–1 draw at home to Evercreech, Chris Bridges getting the goal for the home team, and what a game between Peasedown Albion Reserves at home to Timsbury Reserves! The game finished 6–5 to the visitors, with two hat-tricks for Timsbury from Rhys Cook and Chris Midgley. For the home team goals came from Tom Woodland, Dan Hucker, Craig Dowling, Lee Smith and Scott Baker.
In the Second Division Westhill Reserves went to Coleford Reserves and won 3–2 for the visitors. Glastonbury Reserves got the season started with a win away to Farrington, 3–1. Scorers were Olly Glass, Tom Morgan and Dylan Watts. The two promoted teams, Stoke at home to Weston Bath played out a 1–1 draw and Wessex entertained Belrose which resulted in a 2–2 draw.
In Division Three, new team, Charlton, at home, found the going tough against Chilcompton United, who won 7–1. Frome Collegians Reserves (also new) had a good win away to Westfield A, 3–0.
