Midsomer Norton Men’s Walking Football team attended a tournament, run by the Football Association, in Clevedon last Thursday.
A total of nine teams took part from around the region, and many were very experienced, with a high standard of skill. Some teams included ex-professionals in their line up.
After a slow start, losing the first two games 1-0, Midsomer Norton began to play with energy and conviction, culminat- ing in beating teams for the first time.
At the end of the tournament, Midsomer Norton had played eight games, won five, drew one and lost two, which was easily their best performance since being formed.
They eagerly await the next tournament in April and hope to make more progress.
For anyone wishing to give walking football a go, come along to Midsomer Norton sports centre on a Tuesday or Thursday morning at 10 a.m. and meet the players.
