On Sunday, 20th October, we held a mini tournament at Purnell Sports Ground. Taking part were three teams; Purnell Under-7s, the Under-9s and our Kickers team.
To think that only a few months ago, the Kickers would run around kicking balls in every direction, but now they are playing in an organised team to quite a high standard. This is all down to dedication from Colin, Leanne and the other helpers.
The tournament day was a great success, with families coming and giving their support. Thanks also to the ladies who made cakes and served cold drinks to the players. Also, a special thank you to Mr and Mrs Minall for use of the pitch and for serving hot drinks and refreshments during all the matches, with proceeds going to the club.
While watching our tournament, there were other matches being played. The sound of children enjoying themselves is something to behold, so despite all the depressing news the TV likes to tell us, there is a bright future ahead, with these dedicated people running events all over the country for the benefit of our youngsters.
