Most games last Saturday were affected by the wet weather – there were only seven games in the Mid-Somerset League and Somerset Intermediate Cup.
The league has two teams through to the last eight of the Somerset Intermediate Cup – they are Chilcompton Sports Reserves, who had an excellent 3–2 win away to Milborne Port, with Elliott Avis netting a late winner. Weston Bath scored thirteen against Saltford Reserves, and Frome Collegians Reserves are still to play their game against Parson Street Old Boys.
Coleford extend their lead at the top of the Premier League, beating Westhill at home 2–0. Both goals came in the second half from Dan Willis and Adam Cray. The visitors were very unlucky, experiencing several injuries during the game and having their centre forward watching on the line because of a suspension. Westfield Reserves scored seven against Evercreech Away.
There was a hum-dinger of a game at Timsbury between Timsbury Reserves and Peasedown Reserves, finishing 3–2 to the visitors who were 2–0 up at half-time and extending their lead to 3–0 early in the second half. Netting the goals were Tom Pielesz, Henry Steeds (penalty) and Dan Hucker. The home lads didn’t give up, with both goals from Tim Midgley, Peasedown hung on to secure the 3–2 win, putting them just two points behind league leaders, Weston Bath FC, with the same number of games played. Timsbury made Aiden Wrintmore their Man of the Match.
In Division Three, Haydon Sports put daylight between them and the chasing pack at the top of the league, winning Away at Somer Reserves, 6–1, on the superb 4G pitch at Somervale School.
The home team’s goal was scored by Jon Tout and they made Dan Harrison their Man of the Match. Scoring for the visitors were Kaylum Escott (2), Adam Slocombe (2), Josh Lines and Jony Parsons, who later had to leave the field of play with a broken ankle.
