It was Somerset Junior Cup day last Saturday, where 2016/17 finalists, Coleford Athletic, started off their campaign in fine style, and it was hat-trick man, Jack Davis, that enabled the team to win 3–1 away against Park Royal FC.
Also making the next round was Victoria Street, who won away to KVFC, 3–2. Getting the goals were Ben Lantz (2) and Dan Culliford. Westfield Reserves also had a good away win, 3–2, at Portishead A. Radstock A at home overcame Wells A, 4–1, while Westhill Sports had a walkover. The League lost Purnell Sports, 3–4 to Galmington, Pilton, 2–4 to North Petherton and Peasedown Albion, 2–4 to Stoke Sub Hamdon.
There were no Premier League games in the First Division. Somer Valley lost 4–0 at home to Chew Magna Reserves, with goals from Mathew Drakeley (2), Conor Hunt and Mathew Nye. High Littleton had a very good win at home, 3–1 against Chilcompton Reserves, and Peasedown Albion Reserves won away, 3–2 to Meadow Rangers.
In the Second Division, Weston Bath won 2–1 away to Coleford Reserves; Glastonbury Reserves beat Westhill Sports Reserves, 1–0; Salford had a good home win against Belrose, 5–2 – their scorers were Luke Woodley-Marshall (2) and Sam Speed (3).
Stoke Rovers scored in the last few minutes to get all three points against Timsbury Reserves, winning 2–1, with Alex Gregory scoring both home goals. Wessex won a hard fought game, 4–3, at home against Farrington – the home scorers were Elliot Corfield, Lee Gooding, Daniel Linham and Jonny Edmondson.
The Third Division saw Chilcompton A travel to Charlton United, with goals from Harry Barter and Jason Curtis securing the 2–0 win. Mendip Rangers had an impressive 5–0 win against Pilton Reserves, and Westfield A and Evercreech Reserves played out a 1–1 draw, with Danny Chisnell netting the home goal.
