The Farrington Park Ladies’ golfing season for 2020 came to an end last Thursday with a fun competition based on a Tennessee Waltz format played in teams of three with a high, medium and low handicapped player in each team.

The object of the competition was one best score to count on holes one to six, two best scores to count on holes seven to twelve and all scores to count on the remaining six holes.

Despite the slightly chilly wind and heavy dew underfoot, there was good scoring for the time of year from the thirteen teams.

The best score of the day for a hole came from the team that finished fifth; Jackie Hobbs and Jane Ball each parred the par three 15th, but Jayne Brown birdied it, giving them a score of eleven points for one hole and a closing score of sixty-nine.

Fourth, with seventy points, were Margaret Seery, Lena Warren and Jenny Howarth. Lena had a birdie at the par three 10th but her team were beaten on countback for third place by the in-form team of June Symonds, Jackie Willcox and Wendy Butt.

Seventy-two points secured second place for Pat Roscow, Jackie Walker and player of the moment, Sue Skyrme, who birdied the par five 18th. Mandy Hobbs had birdies at the par three 5th and 10th holes and Lo Dallocco contributed one of her own at the 10th, together with four pars on various holes from Liz Thomas, they proved to be the winning team with a very good score of seventy-five points.
