A LARGE contingent of the Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club joined with family and friends of Geoff Weeks to say a last goodbye to the oldest member of the section at his funeral at Radstock Church.

Geoff, who celebrated his hundredth birthday in June, was still an active playing member well into his nineties and still joined everyone at the club every Tuesday and Thursday until shortly before his death. A true gentleman, Geoff will be very much missed.

On the playing side the semi-final stage of the Winter League and Guerwyn Thomas Cup have both been reached.

In the quarter-finals of the Winter League Alan Jones beat Shaun Goodwin and will now meet the winner of the Paul Trigg and Rex Wyatt tie which is still to be played. Andy Flagg defeated Phil Winsley and will face Cyril Blacker who beat Allen Cheney.

In the Guerwyn Thomas Cup, Jones and Goodwin paired up to beat Pauline Brixey and Noel Chatfield and in the semi-finals will face Howard Nowell and Trigg who beat Cheney and Malcolm Tucker. In the other tie Paul Ellis and George Thurston who defeated Flagg and Mike Weeks will meet Martyn Cuer and Frank Reeves who defeated Steve Brixey and Chris Appleton.
