Members playing at Mendip were delighted to see new tee markers in place. These have been generously donated by Mens Captain Mark Necker, Seniors Captain Tony Scott and Ladies Captain Elect Louise Scott.
Mendip have progressed to the next round of the County Pickeridge Bowl, a scratch event by beating Worlebury away, 3½-1½ with wins from Nic Cox, David Goldie and Liam Copp and a half from Jack Hayes. The men competed in the April weekend stableford which saw a win in Division 1 for James White with 41 points with Owen Roach second with 37 after count back from Kevin Brimble.
Division 2 was won by Tom Webb with 39 with Clayton Merrett second with 38 after count back from Brian Smith. Division 3 went to Sean Thatcher with 39 with Steve Harris second with 37.
Ladies played in the weekend Granny Trophy event which saw a win for Captain Ann Padley with 35 points after count back from Fiona Hassard with Nola Russell third with 34.
The Ladies Alliance A Team visited Kendleshire and went down to a 5-9 defeat with their wins coming from Aimee Sawyer and Ellen Reakes and with a half from Lynne Vowles.
Ladies played in the yellow ball bowmaker which saw a win for Maureen Charlton/Pauline Young/Fran Davies/Lena Warren with 107 points but only after count back from Jan Fukuyama/Bron Cooper/Jackie Willcox/Victoria Ham.
The Seniors recorded two wins this week. Firstly when entertaining Kingsdown 5½-1½ with wins for Paul Wood/Tony Taylor, Tony Scott/Mike Tout, making his debut, Steve Regler/Paul Godwin, Phil Brocks/Andy Griffiths, Simon Atkinson/Derek Bellew and with a half from Robert Miller/Alan Edwards. Next up were Worlebury who were beaten 3½-1½ with wins for Gareth Collier/Roland Greenaway, Gary Quinn/Tony Scott and Paul Wood/Colin Davies and with a half from Ian Whittamore/Tony George.
The Seniors played in the Memorial Trophy. Winner of Division 1 and overall Trophy Winner was David Jukes with 41 with Simon Brand second with 36 after count back from Nick Inskip.
And finally, the ‘Who are They’ series this week introduces Ladies Captain Ann Padley. Ann has been playing golf for 10 years and has been a member of Mendip for 7 years. Her designated Charity is Charlton Farm Children’s Hospice (CHSW) a very worthwhile cause which Members are sure to support.
