The recent cold snap caused the postponement of the first round of the Guerwyn Thomas Trophy in the Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club but two more recent competitions have taken place.
The Turkey Trot produced some really good scores with Andy Flagg and Martyn Cuer recording a one under par gross score of 66. However, once the handicaps came into place it was only enough to see them achieve third place.
The eventual winners were Phil Winsley and Malcolm Tucker who came in one over par but who finished with a nett 60. Shaun Goodwin and Mike Weeks were second with a nett 61 with Flagg and Cuer third with a nett 62.
The November medal competition was a successful one for Seniors’ secretary Alan Jones. His nett score of 66 saw him finish two clear of Richard Sullivan. In third place came Chris Appleton who recorded an excellent gross score of 75 but with a challenging handicap of 6 ended with a very creditable nett 69.
Meanwhile, the heavy rain and high winds hit outdoor sport over the weekend with many events and competitions being cancelled or postponed
