The Daily Mail Foursomes qualifiers took place last week, with Cath Levell and Diane Ramsey winning the ladies’ section and father-and-son combination of Mark and James Stainer taking the honours in the men’s section for the second year running. The Wells Past Captains held their AGM and dinner on Saturday, preceded by the pre-AGM classic, a 4 Ball Better Ball competition which was won by Stuart Mann and Andy Williams with forty one points.

The Senior Mens’ Somerset Golf Union Stableford took place at Weston -Super-Mare GC on a windy but dry and mostly sunny day. Martin Barnes had an excellent thirty seven points to take fourth place overall, losing out on countback for a higher placing. Glen Crocker had thirty four points after recovering from a poor front nine. Phil Spring shot thirty three points, Nick Wilson came in thirty one points leaving a total of one hundred and four (three scores to count) just behind Cricket St Thomas who won with a creditable one hundred and eight.
