IT HAS not been the greatest of seasons for Timsbury Cricket Club but there was no sign of low spirits when the club held its annual Presentation Night in the clubroom. All three senior teams and the youth section were well represented.
Chairman Ben Hosford, who oversaw the proceedings, said it had been a challenging year with problems with availabilities at times which often made it hard to put out three teams. The first team finished fourth in their first year back in the first division of the Bristol and District League but because of the problems with player numbers wins for the second and third teams were few and far between. However the chairman said that morale in the club was still great.’’
Freddie Hosford said that it had not been an easy year for the under 19s who had fielded a young side and had met some very strong opposition. The best performance he felt was away to Hampset where they were beaten by just four runs.
Chris Rawlings, who took over as skipper of the third team, felt the brunt of the problems with availabilities but emphasised that despite the difficult battles the atmosphere in the side remained amazingly high.
After a number of successful seasons the seconds had a disappointing campaign and Ben Hosford as captain said that there were so many disruptions that the season never really got going .
First team skipper Jesse Bishop looked back of a season that recorded 10 wins and 7 defeats and but for a falling away in the closing stages could easily have ended in promotion. He felt that it was a credit to the club that they were able to field three sides on nearly all of the Saturdays.
