THE BDCA Div 8 East game saw second-placed Methodists playing host to third-placed Stapleton 3rds - with the visitors gaining a 60-run victory.
Stapleton opted to bat first and got off to a flyer with Rob Bawdon and the dangerous Fraser Butt attacking from the off, adding 30 runs in five overs, before a mis-timed drive saw Butt (18) sky a catch to the safe hands of Craig Eyles.
A miscommunication a short time later saw the run-out of remaining opener Bawdon - leaving his captain Aurangzeb Mohammed to steady the ship, guiding Stapleton to 100-4 by the drinks break.
He departed for a useful 42 - bowled James Green (2-31) - with the score on 110-5, handing over to Zeehan Shahzad (43) and Riz Baig (42*) who helped Stapleton post a handy total of 211-9 from their forty overs.
After tea, the Methodists' chase faltered at 73-5 in the 18th over. With the victory target now seemingly out of reach, father and son, Stuart (36*) and James Green (29), then did well to add 49 in 13 overs as the hosts looked to maximise their batting points.
Green Sr. was latterly joined by Paul Evans as the Methodists posted 151-6, salvaging seven points from a match.
