Bitton 2nds 42 all out

Methodists 43-0

After enjoying a few days of warm summer temperatures, grey skies returned for the Methodists' trip to Bitton.

Bitton opted to bat first but found runs hard to come by, as the visitors' opening bowlers Daniel Shearn (1-4) and Paul Evans (0-8) gave them few loose deliveries to capitalise on. The hosts reached 13-2 from 12 overs, and Ish Fairoz and Logan Eyles were introduced. No wickets fell between the seventh and twenty-third overs.

Eyles (1-6) removed top-scorer Rehman Ahmed for a hard-earned 12, before opener Ashiq Sadiq's long vigil was eventually ended by Richard Brand - the first of six wickets to fall for just three runs! James Sackett claimed an excellent 3-4, with Brand picking up 2-3, as the home team slumped to 34-9. A big six from came skipper Sam Smith, then returning Fairoz (1-7) rearranged his stumps, wrapping up the home innings as 42 from 34.3 overs bowled.

Methodists' opening batsmen Brand and Alex Nash made short work of their run-chase. They knocked off the 43 runs required in just 4.2 overs - Nash pummelling a quick 28 not out, and finishing the game with a six - to give the visitors a comfortable ten-wicket victory, bolstering their promotion push.
