IT WAS honours even when the Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club visited Whitley in their most recent social match.
After a close contest that went to the final green the contest finished all square at 3-3. Acting captain Howard Nowell and his partner Malcolm Tucker and Allen Cheney and Mike Weeks each won their matches 3&2 while Pauline and Steve Brixey finished two up.
Andy Flagg and Phil Winsley were narrowly beaten ending up one down and there were defeats for Shaun Goodwin and Malcolm Emery who lost 4&2 and for Paul Trigg and Paul Ellis who were beaten 5&4 .
There was a close finish to the Groundsman’s trophy at Fosseway with Goodwin and Tucker coming out on top of the Foursomes Stableford with 38 points. Just one point behind came John Williams and Bob Townsend and Trigg with his partner Cyril Blacker. Williams and Townsend claimed second place on countback.
There was no doubting the winner of the August medal at Fosseway with Dave Peacey heading the field with a nett 61. Three shots behind came John Bendle with Tucker third with a nett 66.
