LAST week I reported the results of the weekend Stableford at Mendip Golf Club without realizing that it was a divisional affair. Young Tate Sinfield Day won Div 1 with 38 with Tommy Beveridge 2nd with 37 and Nick White 3rd with 35. Div 2 went to Cameron Elliott with the best score of the day 43, David Forshaw with 39 was 2nd on count back from Tony Logan and Div 3 was won by Paul Taylor with 39, Omar Aziz was 2nd with 38 and Sam Thatcher was 3rd with 37.
Twenty-seven teams entered the 3 person Bowmaker which saw a win for the low handicap team of Ryan Sainsbury (3), Jack Hayes (2) and Stuart Ponfield (+1) with 86 points. In 2nd place were Rhys Swift/Jack Cook/Timothy Cook with 84 and in 3rd place came Lee Callow/Danny Durbin/Phillip McKenny with 83.
The Ladies Challenge Cup saw a very close fought affair resulting in a win for Lynne Vowles with a net 75 just 1 shot ahead of Lynn Cox and Louise Scott. Aimee Sawyer was 4th with 77.
Thirty-eight Ladies played in the 18 hole Stableford. Division 1 went to Susy Rudkin with 38 points with Jane Ball 2nd with 35 and Lynn Cox was 3rd with 29. Div 2 was won by Lillian Peel with 31 after count back from Anne Collins with Ali Kay 3rd with 30 after count back. Suzie Howe won Div 3 with 35 with Annette Jobbins 2nd with 27 after count back from Carol Curtis.
A further 11 Ladies played in the 9 hole event which saw a win for Elaine Richardson with 17 after count back from Liz Rose with Joan Clark 3rd with 16.
More than one hundren Seniors played in the Ian Hall Memorial Trophy. Div 1 was won by Seniors Captain Tony Scott with 39 points with David Braithwaite 2nd with 38 and Richard Bull was 3rd after count back with 37. Div 2 was won by Andy Frampton with 39 points in 2nd place came Paul Smith with 38 after count back from John Fisher and Div 3 went to David Collins with 37 with Martin Roper 2nd with 36 and Nigel Jarvis was 3rd with 35. Andy Frampton just beat Tony Scott with a better back 9.
I must mention the fine effort of Paul Smith who has had three knee operations called off but continues to soldier on.
