MIDSOMER Norton have stretched their lead at the top of Counties Two Somerset South after beating Hornets II 36-16 in their latest match on a chilly afternoon.
It was their 12th victory in 13 matches and they now have a ten-point lead over Minehead Barbarians who lost 35-32 away to Clevedon.
Minehead remain four points clear of third-placed Avon who won 45-0 at home to Oldfield Old Boys, while Clevedon stay fourth despite their victory over Minehead. However, both Avon and Clevedon have a crucial game in hand over the Barbarians.
Surprise result of the day was Wells’ 33-0 home win over Nailsea and Backwell - their first success of the season.

However, the big match is the clash between Avon and Clevedon with only one point separating the teams.
