MIDSOMER Norton stormed to an 85-10 away win over St Bernadettes Old Boys in Counties Two Somerset.

It enabled Norton to stay eight points clear of Clevedon - and they also have two games in hand on their nearest rivals - and to complete a 228-10 double over their rivals.

Clevedon moved up to second in the table after beating Oldfield Old Boys 36-12 but Avon dropped down a place to third after their match away to Rebels Rugby was postponed because of the wet weather.

Minehead Barbarians’ hopes of promotion suffered a big setback when they went down 18-3 away to Imperial. The Babas, who slipped down to fifth, have never been good on their travels.

Wells moved off the bottom of the table after they beat Chew Valley’s second string 21-0 at home.

Meanwhile, Midsomer Norton will be looking to stretch their lead at the top of the table when they play away to Wells this coming weekend.
