GREAT news from Mendip Golf Club’s Pro Team that Sam Scriven has completed and passed his 3 year Course and now holds a Degree in Professional Golf Studies. It just requires the formality of a written application to the PGA to confirm him as a fully fledged Assistant Golf Professional.
The Ladies 9 hole competition saw a win for Elaine Richardson with 19 points, well clear of Chris Olds with 16 and Maggie Brain with 15.
The Alliance A and B teams had their annual challenge which saw a win for the B squad 7-5 with wins for Pauline Young, Edwina Willis and Chris Down and a half for Maureen Charlton.
The Ladies friendly team had a very competitive halved match with Wedmore, wins coming from Lally Gibson/Bridget Rylance and Sue Forshaw/Pat Roskov with a half coming from Ali Kay/Min Woodward.
The weekly Nearest the Pin Competition was changed to a LongestDrive and this was won by Josh Mowat with Jack Hayes 2nd.
The Seniors went down to a narrow 2½-3½ defeat when entertaining Taunton & Pickeridge. Mendip’s win came from Tony Scott/Robert Miller with halves gained by Andy Frampton/Andy Griffiths, Darrin Vowles/Paul Godwin and David Braithwaite playing with John Cross.
