AFTER a brief pause with fewer summer races, it was back to business with a bang for Radstock’s Somer Athletics Club.

On a warm and sunny Sunday morning, the distinctive black and yellow shirts were out in force locally.  The Juniors kept their regular date with the junior parkrun in Collett Park in Shepton Mallet, supported by proud coaches and parents.

Meanwhile, the Two Tunnels event in Bath saw several Somer athletes participate with Tyler Maule securing a third place finish against a tough field in the 10km race.

However, it was a short trip along the A362 to Frome Running Festival with twenty runners tackling 5km, 10km and half marathon distances on undulating and challenging courses around the town.

There were superb performances across the longer distances despite the warm weather.  It was the 5km race that provided more podium finishes though.  Somer’s Dylan Cole and Stuart Godfrey secured 2nd and 3rd place, with clubmate Peter Green joining them in winning their respective age categories too.

If you’ve enjoyed the summer on the beach but now want to get into running in the cooler autumn months, Somer would love to hear from you. Drop them a line at [email protected] or visit their facebook or Instagram pages.
