NORTON Radstock Swimming Club has launched a drive for new members.

A club spokesperson said: "We are trying to raise the profile of our not-for-profit swimming club. We have recently set up a public Facebook group and are trying to attract new members to our club.

"Our mission is to secure the club's future and we need members to do that. We are a small committee of passionate volunteers, dedicated to supplying the grassroots opportunities to 'budding' swimmers. "With Paris 2024 upon us, it would be great to get the Olympic buzz going in the area and get kids thinking about all sports and fitness...after all they are the future!" The spokesperson added: "It has been a challenging time for the club recently and we are about to move locations; which means the club working towards becoming financially stable once more. We just need a little boost.

‘The club has existed in Midsomer Norton for more than 60 years. It is run by a team of committed volunteers and a Level Three head coach. If you are on Level 6/7 of the Learn to Swim programme, please request a trial via the club's website www.nrsc.org.uk or email the club's membership secretary Rosie. At the 2016 A.S.A. Aquatics Awards the club was awarded silver in the Club of the Year category. For a small club to receive this award from the governing body was a huge achievement; great recognition for the hard work and passion for aquatics that drives our volunteer workforce.

Swimmer’s continued development is under pinned by a skills based approach to refine stroke technique and competitive skills. The long term aim is for all swimmers to be developed to their full potential, compete at the highest possible level and develop a lifelong love of aquatics.

Recently it was announced that five Bath based swimmers have been selected by Team GB for the Paris 2024 Olympix Games later this year. This could be you one day! These swimmers are totally dedicated and spend many hours of the week in the pool.
