TIMSBURY returned to winning ways with a comfortable six wicket victory away to bottom club Winterbourne Seconds  in Division One of the Bristol and District League.

With both the top two teams in the division, Golden Hill and Portishead losing, this victory keeps third placed Timsbury interested in the season’s final reckonings as the season begins to draw to a close.

Batting first the home side made a solid if unspectacular  start with Frost (51) and Parker (26) putting on 61 for the first wicket.

Once the breakthrough came the visitors worked their way through the home batting line-up with spinner Jon Strand following up his six wicket haul of the previous week to take 4-29 well supported by Martin Richards (2-29) and Freddie Hosford (2-14). Frustratingly, Timsbury could not take the final wicket with Winterbourne ending on 152-9.

Mark Sage and Strand then gave Timsbury the perfect start in response adding 71 for the first wicket before Strand was dismissed for 26. Sage, Timsbury’s leading run scorer for the season completed another half century before losing his wicket for 59 with victory in sight. Jack Williams and skipper Jesse Bishop saw Timsbury safely over the line.
