TIMSBURY remain in contention for promotion in the Bristol and District League Division 1 after a comfortable 88 run victory at home to Hambrook . With two games of the season remaining Timsbury are in joint second place with Portishead who lost for the second week in a row.
After electing to bat first Timsbury compiled a workmanlike 179-9 from their 40 overs. All-rounder Jon Strand continued his good form with an invaluable 50, the ever reliable Mark Sage made 33 and skipper Jesse Bishop finished with 26 before being superbly caught on the boundary. Kislingbury was Hambrook’s most successful bowler with figures of 3-24.
After a slow start the visitors’ innings never really got off the ground. Strand continued to feature strongly taking 4-24, Kev Sibley took 2-15 and Martin Richards 2-22 as Hambrook were dismissed for 91 in 30 overs.
It was an afternoon to forget for Timsbury 2nd XI who were bundled out for just 53 away to league leaders Carsons and Mangotsfield in the Bristol and District League Division 5 - and lost by nine wickets.. Captain Ben Hosford top scored with 19. Timsbury 3rd XI made the short trip to Hampset 3rd XI in the Bristol and District League Division 9 East and were beaten by 87 runs.
