TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of murder as part of an ongoing investigation into the death of 72-year-old man following a burglary at his home.
Stephen Ridgeway, Keynsham, was admitted to hospital with injuries after being assaulted in his home in Tenby Road in the early hours of Sunday November 3.
Mr Ridgeway said he had opened the door to two men who forced their way inside, assaulted him and stole property including alcohol and mobile phones.
Police appealed for information on the aggravated burglary on November 8 and later arrested a suspect who was released on conditional bail.
Mr Ridgeway remained in hospital and, tragically, died on Saturday, December 7.
The case is currently being treated as murder by the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT), after the preliminary findings of a post-mortem examination were that the injuries contributed to his death.
A man in his thirties and a man in his forties were both arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday, January 7. They were on Wednesday, January 8, after questioning and the investigation continues.
Detective Chief Inspector James Wasiak urges anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
He said: “If you were in the Tenby Road area of Keynsham between midnight and 3am that Sunday, November 3, or have any footage of the area at the time, please contact us.”
