The local Branch of the Royal British Legion opened their flagship drop-in centre in Midsomer Norton on Friday, June 14.

The centre was officially opened by the chairperson of Bath and North East Somerset Council, Councillor Karen Walker.

Midsomer Norton Councillor Dr Cheryl Scott was also in attendance. Other dignitaries also attended from the Midsomer Norton Branch of The Rifles Association and Connaught Lodge.

Branch members, veterans and friends mingled, chatted and just took time out to relax with like-minded people whilst enjoying a cuppa and a cake.

The Vice Chair Andrea Feeney and Branch Welfare officer said that she was pleased with the turn-out considering that this was the very first of hopefully many drop-in meetings.

Tea, coffee, squash and cakes were on offer, but mainly the opportunity for a chat and a chance to find out what assistance and help is available.

The next drop-in session will be on July 12. The centre will be open every second Friday of the month between 2pm and 4pm. The Rev Guy Scott, the Branch padre, has offered the Church Hall of St John’s Church as a venue.

The Midsomer Norton and Radstock RBL Branch will hold their next general meeting on June 24 at the Social Club from 7:30pm.
