At the recent Chilcompton Art Club AGM, longstanding Chairman, Hugh Webb, made the decision to stand down from the role after many years of service.

Hugh brought something unique to the Chair’s role. His easy going nature and ready wit, along with a caring attitude for the members, made it very easy for people to get along with him. He established a rapport with the members that made them feel at ease and above all, welcomed. Hugh, being an ex-teacher, seamlessly slotted into the role again, when he conducted one of his wacky, but informative, watercolour workshops, some of which will never be forgotten!

Hugh has agreed to remain as a committee member and will offer his help, experience and guidance in the coming years. The club also extended their thanks to Sue Thatcher and Susan Brain for stepping in and doing the role of Secretary these past twelve months. The members voted to elect a new Secretary, Nigel Punchard and also a new Chairman, Amanda Mayes.

Anyone thinking of taking up painting and drawing for a pastime is welcome to come along to the club’s sessions at St John’s church hall, Chilcompton, on any Wednesday or Friday morning between 10 a.m. and 12 noon, all abilities will be made welcome. For more details, visit: www.chilcomptonart.uk
