Residents have an opportunity to talk to local money experts to check if they are receiving all the pension credits, benefits and other financial support they are entitled to.

Dan Norris MP (Labour, North East Somerset and Hanham) is organising a free one-stop shop event in a central Keynsham venue on Friday, March 28, from 10am to 12pm.

Organisations including Citizens Advice Bureau, Age UK, Bath and North East Somerset Council and others will be on hand to help. Free refreshments will be available.

When Mr Norris was previously a local MP, he organised regular events to inform people of their financial entitlements and how to receive them.

He said: “When I’m out and about, at my regular surgeries and elsewhere, an issue that understandably often comes up is entitlement to tax and pension credits, benefits and other financial support.

“I want to help ensure everyone I represent is obtaining what they are properly entitled to. If you work hard and contribute to society, through taxes and other contributions, the system in various ways should be there when you need it.

“It is right that people claim what they are entitled to, but sadly it is clear that some people are unfortunately missing out. Sometimes, when financial entitlements change, it is a challenge to keep up to date with it all.

“So I have invited staff from a number of really good and helpful organisations to offer confidential, professional and impartial advice.

“When I arranged these events before, many thousands of pounds in unclaimed entitlements were rightly secured by local people. Many had simply not realised they would be entitled to claim.”

Details of the Keynsham venue where the event is being held will be sent to those who register. This can be done by calling 07759 056428, or by visiting the Eventbrite page.
