Ofsted inspectors have confirmed that Whitchurch Primary School has ‘taken effective action to maintain standards’ following an inspection in February.
The most recent inspection was ungraded, meaning that it did not result in a new overall rating. As a result, Ofsted’s assessment from 2018, when the school was graded as ‘Good’ in every category, remains in place.
Whitchurch Primary School has maintained its strong performance across all areas, with Ofsted confirming that the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision, are all graded as ‘Good’.
The report goes on to discuss the school’s vision for its children, stating that: “The school is determined to equip pupils for success beyond school.
“To achieve this, it has shaped a highly cohesive programme of events, activities and wider experiences. The programme develops each element of pupils’ character to help them become caring, responsible, resilient and proactive citizens.”
Headteacher Carl Hornsby was pleased with the report’s findings and said: “I am delighted that Ofsted recognised the warm and productive environment we create for our children to support them in their development and learning.
“We are committed to this approach across all areas of the school and will continue to work towards this alongside our parents, carers, governors and of course our amazing children.”
Following the publication of Ofsted’s report, Dr Gary Lewis, chief executive of the Lighthouse Schools Partnership (LSP), which includes Whitchurch Primary School, said: “This is a superb report and I am delighted to see inspectors’ praise for the school’s caring ethos as well and the ‘fluent reading,’ ‘complex mathematics’ and strong provision for pupils with SEND.
“Whitchurch is a fantastic primary and that comes across loud and clear. I am very proud of my colleagues and the school community.”
