In a bid to fuel ambition and raise aspirations, Longvernal School attempts to give all their children, from a wide range of backgrounds, the opportunity to visit places such as museums, activity centres and wildlife parks.

As this is financed purely from voluntary contributions from parents, the harsh reality is that the economic crisis is affecting families to quite an extent, with the result being that many families are finding it challenging paying up for such trips.

The fuel crisis and rising costs has hit schools very hard, and schools are slipping into a deficit budgets; they simply cannot keep topping up shortfalls when parents don’t pay up.

Somer Valley Rotary Club donated cheque of £218 towards the Winter term’s shortfall.
