For the past five years Belly Laughs has been banishing the winter blues in Bristol with their own unique brand of fun. This January they’re expanding - Bath, it’s time!
The brainchild of comedian Mark Olver, Belly Laughs brings people together through comedy and food in the most miserable month of the year. They’re excited to be launching in Bath with gigs planned across the city this coming January to raise money for local homeless charity Julian House.
Past gigs have seen contributions from local comedians and familiar faces (including Jon Richardson, Rosie Jones, Jayde Adams and Nish Kumar), and 2023 promises more of the same.
They partner with independent venues and community centres to put on omedy gigs with food and drink. You could find yourself in a wine bar with twenty other people, lolling over tacos with five friends or jostling for space in a packed out community centre. Every gig is unique but one thing remains the same; you’ll be fed and watered, you’ll laugh and you’ll be supporting a good cause. Let’s be honest, what else is this much fun in January?
Mark said, “We’re really excited to be spreading our wings a little and launching in our neighbouring city of Bath! I’m always blown away by people’s generosity at these events and am sure we can raise some money for Julian House whilst having a bit of a laugh at the same time”.
A number of shows are on sale now through their ticketing partner Yuup, with more being added all the time. Five pounds from every ticket goes straight to charity, the remaining amount goes back to the venue hosting the gig. The comedians and Belly Laughs team all volunteer their time.
