Frome’s sociable pop-up dining space, Lunch Bunch, has returned to bring its unique blend of lunchtime conversation and community spirit to the heart of the weekly market.

From Wednesday, April 23 until the end of May, Lunch Bunch will be a regular feature of Frome Market, popping up outside the library between 11am and 2pm.

Lunch Bunch is a free, pop-up social dining space aimed at bringing people together, reclaiming public spaces and making lunchtime a little more joyful.

It’s a simple idea; just bring your own lunch, sit down at a communal table, and enjoy friendly conversation, crosswords, card games and the occasional prize.

Lunch Bunch began as a trial in September 2024. Participant Debbie said “We actually came across this lovely event as we were walking past, so we stopped to see what was happening. A lovely lady called Jess approached us and explained all about the event, asked if we would like a cup of tea and play a game.

“We ended up playing several games, met some lovely people and had fun. It was really nice to see people of all ages taking part and actually talking to each other.

“It’s amazing how many of us spend our breaks scrolling or eating at a desk,” said Sara Butler, from Frome Town Council.

“Lunch Bunch is about putting the phone down, getting outdoors and having a bit of fun – whether it’s five minutes of conversation or a full two-hour game of Scrabble. And of course outside the library, alongside the weekly market makes it the perfect spot”

“Lunch Bunch is especially welcoming to those who might find weekdays a bit quiet – whether you’re retired, working from home, have school aged children, or just fancy a change of scene.”
