A Halloween childrens’ craft event will have a ‘spooky’ theme at Bath Assembly Rooms from this weekend.

National Trust estates in the North Somerset, Bath and Bristol areas are gearing up for the half term as trees slowly turn to copper and the pumpkin harvest begins.

There is plenty to keep the children entertained, with ‘spooky’ crafts providing an opportunity for children and their families to visit and create their own ghost ornaments, using felt or a spider in a web using sticks and string.

There will be other activities children can try, including origami pumpkins and turnips, make your own 3D haunted paper house, trick or treat hula and some spooky colouring in.

Booking is not required for the free event which runs from Saturday, October 26, until Sunday, November 3.

Children can also swoop around Dyrham Park when they take part in the bat trail, which is held daily from 10am until 4pm from October 26-November 3.

There will be clues and facts about our favourite upside-down friends to tie in with the half-term holiday and Halloween. The trail sheets will cost £2.50 each which will include a prize at the end.  Booking for the event is not requires but normal admission prices apply to Dyrham Park.

People are also invited to join the team at Tyntesfield, North Somerser, for the spectacular annual gourd display in the orangery. For months the outdoors team has been growing pumpkins, melons, squash and cucumbers, with new varieties of each to be discovered to give that authentic rustic look.
