Children are set to enjoy new and improved play equipment at Manor Copse play area in Writhlington as part of a raft of upgrades across the district.
Parks across Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES) are set to be overhauled this summer - and improvements will also be on the way to Midsomer Norton.
B&NES Council has begun a parks replacement programme in more than ten areas, with installations of new multi-play units at Manor Copse play area and Royal Victoria Park in Bath.
The programme focuses on replacing existing play equipment that has been reported broken or has reached the end of its serviceable life. There will also be improvements to safety surfaces and fences at several parks.
The other parks due to see improvements by the end of this summer include Greenacres in Midsomer Norton and Brassmill Lane, Loxton Drive, Corston View, Pennyquick and Moorfield Sandpits in Bath.
In a separately funded project, the council is also progressing designs for significant improvements to the play area at Keynsham Memorial Park and to Springfield Park in Bath. Work is hoped to start at these parks by the end of 2025.
Councillor Tim Ball, cabinet member for neighbourhood services, said: “We are investing in our beautiful parks across Bath and North East Somerset, focusing first on the play areas where equipment is at the end of its life or broken.
“We want to make parks more fun, safe and accessible for everyone and encourage more children and families to enjoy everything they have to offer, bringing them closer to nature in a place to play and socialise.
“Some of the improvements are substantial and are going to make a real difference in the heart of our communities.”
The parks replacement programme has been funded by Community Infrastructure Levy funding and capital funding.
