On the 1st July, Paulton held their summer fete at the Memorial Field, Farrington Road.

We had our fingers crossed that the early morning drizzle would stop and the very high wind would cease and allow the sun to shine - we got the rain out of the way, but the wind was problematic for many of the stall holders.

Some didn’t even try to erect their gazebo, some took them down and one didn’t survive at all! The sun did come out and remained for the whole of the event so we were really thankful.

After the welcome by the Event Manager, George Batchelar, Paulton Infant School dancers put on a wonderful performance. They actually did it twice as it was so good! It is lovely to see such young people giving such enjoyment to those watching.

During the afternoon people enjoyed the static classic and vintage car display at the top of the park which included tractors that were soon seeing children clambering over them. Paul Wigzel and his pygmy goats were are really great attraction as was Rachel Phillips with Indigo soft archery.

Attendees were allowed to have an escorted tour of Holy Trinity Church tower and marvel at the views over Paulton, while others including the young children of Paulton marvelled at the fire engine that was out on display.

In the arena we had Rosie Rendell, Irish dancers, Tash Arthur, Zumba, Dweamah Dance Group and an amazing martial arts display by Jamie Woodland’s team. A great mix of entertainers show casing their talents.

All parties need to have refreshments and this year was no different. We had Greg and Kelly’s bar, there was Dave Willcox Jumbo’s Burgers & Baps, Fabrizzias ice cream van and the Alexandra Tea Ladies produced delicious cream teas and cakes in the village hall.

Hopefully there was something for everyone to enjoy. Unfortunately Bo Dong Chinese street food were involved in an accident on the way to the event so were unable to make it. We hope that everyone was okay and send our best wishes to them.

There was a great variety of stalls, some to tempt you to spend a little money and some for information only. Children could enjoy arts and crafts, have a go at tennis organised by Cam Vale tennis club, or use the very popular bouncy castle run by Aimee Gay.

The committee would like to publicly thank everyone who helped make this a day to remember, from stewards to cake makers and the biggest of thanks go to all our residents for supporting us. Hopefully see you on 6th July 2024!
