SANTA joined councillors on a chilly evening to find the most outstanding outdoor Christmas display on Westfield - and the journey did not disappoint.

Parish councillors Diana Cooper and Phil Wilkinson often search for festive displays worthy of recognition each year, and 2024 was no exception.

Some of the displays have been in place for some time as residents appear to have wanted to start bringing Christmas cheer into their homes early this year.

A house in Chaffinch Drive boasted a wonderful display featuring approximately 5,000 lights, and has been judged to be the best in the village.

The display was designed and installed by Caroline Hickling, who was absolutely thrilled to win the competition.

Caroline and her husband, Paul, are foster carers and set up the display for the children. She said it is to give the children that are not with their birth parents at Christmas some joy and something to look forward to.

Councillor Cooper remarked: “Caroline and Paul are worthy winners. Despite storm Darragh doing its worst it is a spectacular display.”

The annual outdoor Christmas lights competition is held by Westfield Parish Council every year.
