Wells Good Afternoon Choir will join the Scouts for a performance at St Thomas’ Church in Wells on Saturday, March 22.
Doors open at 6.30pm ahead of a 7pm start as the popular choir sing with the 5th/7th Wells Scout group.
The Wells Good Afternoon Choir is led by Ruth Jenkins and is busy preparing the programme for the concert which will support fundraising for the Scout group’s hut.
Ms Jenkins has plenty of experience leading choirs, having graduated in music at Birmingham University, specialising in voice as well as conducting her university chamber choir. She is also trained as a music therapist and conducted the Wimbledon YMCA choir.
The Good Afternoon Choirs were started by Bath-based Grenville Jones in May 2009 and there are now 35 groups across the South West of England, South Wales and London, boasting more than 1,600 members.
There are no auditions to join the choir and the first rehearsal new members attend is free. All members of Wells Good Afternoon Choir come from both in and around the area.
The choir meets every Tuesday afternoon from 2pm - 4pm. Everyone is welcome to attend to meet leader Ruth and other members of the choir where the emphasis is on having fun.
The 5th/7th Wells Scout Group will be joining Wells Good Afternoon Choir for a singalong and there will be a number of opportunities for audience participation on the evening.
Admission to the concert is free providing a great opportunity to enjoy an evening of singing and to meet members of the local community.
