Christmas arrived early at a care home in Frome where a festive fair for the community was held to raise money for a local charity.
Residents at Care UK’s Rossetti House, on Welshmill Lane, were joined by locals for an afternoon of festive fun, raising £782 for Purple Elephant, which was matched by Care UK, doubling the donation to £1,564.
Purple Elephant is a small Frome-based charity that supports families who are facing any kind of disadvantage, whether through low income, poor mental health, additional needs or disabilities, substance addiction or social isolation.
Guests were invited to the home’s Christmas fair, which included an afternoon of browsing stalls in the decorated home. Money was raised by a raffle and tombola with donated prizes, collected from the families and friends of Rossetti House and local businesses.
Guests were also treated to a festive buffet with mince pies, mulled wine, and mocktails, prepared by the home’s Head Chef, Lukas Smykowski.
Commenting on the afternoon, resident Christine Singer said: “It was a great turn out. it’s wonderful that the event was so well supported and raised a lot of money for charity. I had to go back to the stalls several times to see everything.”
Phil Vale, general manager at Rossetti House, said: “Here at Rossetti House, we are committed to playing an active role in the community, which is why we were thrilled to open our doors, embrace the festive spirit, and raise funds for Purple Elephant with our fantastic Christmas fair.
“We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone came along to celebrate the festive season with us and donated to a worthy local cause, and we’d like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas from all of us here at Rossetti House.”
Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, Rossetti House incorporates plenty of space for hobby and leisure activities and has its own cinema, hair and beauty salon and café.
The building has been designed to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities and encourage social interaction among the residents.
