SIX of Bath’s parks and Haycombe Cemetery have been awarded Green Flags for excellence, recognising them as top green spaces in the country.

Judges visited Royal Victoria Park, Bloomfield Green, Alexandra Park and Haycombe Cemetery and confirmed they continue to meet the benchmark standard for well-managed green spaces that serve communities well.

Sydney Gardens, Henrietta Park and Hedgemead Park were also assessed in a ‘mystery shop’ by the judges and were found to meet the standard once again. It’s the second year running that the seven green spaces, managed by Bath & North East Somerset Council, have received an award.

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by Keep Britain Tidy for the UK and globally, sets the standard for well-managed parks and green spaces.

Councillor Tim Ball, cabinet member for neighbourhood services, said: “It is fantastic news that we have once again received seven Green Flags, which are testament to the hard work of our parks and cemetery grounds teams and the many volunteers who keep our green spaces looking beautiful all year round.”
