Staff and residents of Kingfisher Lodge care home in Frome enjoyed a community teddy bear picnic with the local community.
The event took place on the grounds of the care home on April 5, where the hospitality team served a selection of food as well as home made cakes which were enjoyed by many of the guests that attended.
Kingfisher Lodge provides residential care, nursing care and dementia care for 60 residents, from those staying for respite care to those who have long term stays.
Guests included friends and family to the residents and staff at the home, and the local community members also stopped in at the event. The team at the home also invited local singer who performed a range of classic hits, which many of the guests sang along to.
Residents, staff and guests donned their pyjamas and brought their favourite teddy bears, each with its own story and charm. The staff held a fun competition, with one of the categories being ‘The Oldest Teddy’, which was won by a 57 year old teddy.
One of the residents said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the day surrounded by lots of great people. Thankfully the weather held out until we finished. Staff did a great job, not just on the day, but organising the event and getting everyone together.”
Claudia Costinean, general manager at Kingfisher Lodge care home, said: “Staff at Kingfisher Lodge are dedicated to making sure that the home is a hub of the local community, and this event, along with all their hard work, has definitely paid off. It was a resounding success.”
Kingfisher Lodge care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering personalised care across its care homes and hospitals.
