HIGH street pharmacy Boots has issued an emergency recall notice for its own brand paracetamol.
The notice, which was issued on Monday, March 3, warned consumers of a safety issue due to mis-packaged paracetamol 500mg tablets.
The product, with item code 81-99-922, contained the incorrect packaging with an insert for the brands’ Aspirin 300mg dispersible tablets.
The pharmacy chain initially expressed concerns that the painkiller itself had also been mis-packaged and that customers may be consuming Aspirin unknowingly.
Boots has since confirmed that the tablets are in fact Paracetamol and that it was only the product packaging that was incorrect.
Customers who purchased the product, from batch 241005, expiry date 12/2029, have been asked to return the product to their local store for a full refund with or without their receipt.
