The Grand Appeal has been chosen as Barratt David Wilson Homes South West’s Charity of the Year. Their efforts will help finance some of the 100 projects the charity funds and save the lives of sick babies and children.
As the dedicated charity for Bristol Children’s Hospital, The Grand Appeal works alongside hard-working doctors, nurses, and specialist staff to ensure every sick child has access to the best possible care when they need it most. The charity funds everything from accommodation for families, state-of-the-art equipment, child-friendly facilities, groundbreaking medical research, and a programme of arts, music, and play therapies, and so much more.
Money raised from the Charity of the Year partnership will enable The Grand Appeal to continue supporting Bristol Children’s Hospital and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael’s Hospital.
Helen Haskell, head of corporate fundraising, said: “We’re all so grateful to have the support of the Bristol and South West community. Like all charities, we’ve been through a tough few years due to the pandemic.
“By raising money for Bristol Children’s Hospital and St Michael’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Barratt David Wilson Homes South West will help The Grand Appeal give even more sick children and babies the best chance in life. It’s thanks to the support of the local community and businesses that we can continue to give sick babies, children, and their families a brighter future.”
Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, added: “The Grand Appeal is an independent charity that receives no government funding, which means vital services provided by the charity at Bristol Children’s Hospital depend on the support of donors. We have an exciting year of events and activities coming up, and the whole team is incredibly motivated to raise more money than ever for this worthy cause.”
The Grand Appeal has many exciting projects coming up, which Barratt David Wilson Homes is looking forward to. From the first family 'Grand Walk' at Ashton Court on Sunday, September 15, to the festive fundraising event Shine Bright for Bristol Children's Hospital later this year. Next year, the charity will also launch Gromit Unleashed 2025, its award-winning arts trail that will ‘captivate’ the city of Bristol.
The homebuilders raised an impressive £56,297.37 for last year’s charity partner, Star Scheme, a charity founded at Chew Valley Rugby Club that supports young people and their families who have multiple adverse childhood/community experiences (ACEs) or mental health issues.
