A TWO-DAY weather warning for snow has been issued for parts of Somerset with sub-zero temperatures expected to arrive by the weekend.

The Met Office has updated a raft of weather warnings for the start of 2025 - with the threat of heavy snow looming for parts of the region from midday on Saturday (January 4) until 9am on Monday (January 6).

The yellow weather warning stretches from Glasgow in the North to the majority of the South of England, with only Cornwall, parts of North West Devon and the Sussex coastline behind spared.

The Met Office says in the warning it issued this morning (January 1): “There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected

“There is a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off.

“There is a chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.”
